The Lady in Green – A True Cincinnati Ghost Story
We were having dinner at the Hilton Netherland Plaza, surrounded by 1930s elegance—but most of the guests weren’t dressed for the setting. Then she walked in.
A woman in a green gown. Radiant. Elegant. Out of time. Everyone else faded. I couldn’t stop looking.
Later that night, we crossed paths again—alone in the lobby. I introduced myself, told her I was a photographer, and asked if I could take her portrait.
Her name is Kelsey Brown. Her husband, Jevon, had brought her here to celebrate her birthday—delayed because of Father’s Day. They live in Cincinnati but had never been to the Plaza. She said she rarely dresses up, but found that gown days earlier and had no idea where she’d wear it. She just knew she needed it.
That’s when I told her about the legend.
The Lady in Green: a woman said to haunt these halls since the 1930s, searching for her husband who vanished during construction. Her story—tied to heartbreak, mystery, and a green dress—was right there in a walking tour brochure my wife had in her purse. We showed it to her. Everyone got chills.
Kelsey didn’t know the story.
But somehow, she became it.
But somehow, she became it.
Some portraits you plan. Others find you.
A gown. A hallway. A ghost story.
A stranger with a camera.
This is why I photograph.

A stranger with a camera.
This is why I photograph.
